PATINA ON METALS

Introduction
In this intensive course we will explore various permanent finishing treatments for surfaces of different metals in order to create different effects: colors, shades, textures and the correct application of oxides.
Different recipes to patinate metals also with the use of natural ingredients.
The application of this technique in goldsmithing allows countless creative possibilities.
The workshop is aimed at goldsmiths, artists, artisans, students and designers.
CONTENT OF THE WORKSHOP //
- Preparation of metals
- Oxidation of metals: silver, copper, brass
- Patinas: recipes (usually between 20-30)
- Different methods of application
- How to mix recipes
- Different coloring techniques
- Application of gold, copper, brass and aluminum foil to add extra metallic colors and effects.
- Application of welding - combination of various metals - experiments and more
- Paints, waxes.

TEACHER//
Judy McCaig is a Scottish goldsmith, engraver and painter who has lived and worked in Barcelona since 1991.
From 2000 until today he has taught at the Massana School of Art in Barcelona and since 2009 at Taller Perill, Barcelona.
He exhibits nationally and internationally and has worked in many public and private collections, including the British Museum, the Crafts Council Collection in London and the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
