The course is developed in six separate modules, the venue of the course is in Florence at Fabula Aurea.
MODULE ONE //
CABOCHON
With the first module, students will be introduced to the world of manual stone processing. After an approach to machinery such as grinding wheels, abrasive belts, drills and discs, all diamond-coated, you will see how they are used according to the different processes. Students will be guided to the realization of the first cabochons, already trying different materials in this phase, in order to see how materials with different hardnesses react to processing. Then cuts will be made, always with a cabochon finish, but with different shapes: therefore squares, triangles, ovals, etc., up to free shapes and designs, chosen by the students. - Basic raw material included.
Possible purchase of different material and / or larger quantities.
The objects created will remain with the students.

MODULE TWO //
CABOCHON CALIBRATED AND RECESSED
In the second module, calibrated cabochons must be created, thus respecting the pre-established measurements of diameter / base and height. It will also be seen how first to fit and then make the cabochon so that it fits perfectly to the metal seat. Various cuts will be made with different shapes and various sizes. - Basic raw material included. Possible purchase of different material and / or larger quantities. - Brass base settings of the shapes used in the course. (Ask in advance for particular shapes) -

MODULE THREE A //
VARIOUS CUTS PART 1
During the third module students will be shown how, starting from the raw material, different objects are created. Pears (drops), donuts and free shapes will then be made, also chosen by the students, after having agreed them with the teacher. Various will be performed, with various sizes and with different cutting styles. You will see how to drill the stones using the pillar drill with diamond tips. (The drops, for example, will be made both with a flat surface on one side and a cabochon on the other, both complete in the round, and with examples of carving). Doubles and triplets (2 or 3 materials joined in one piece) will also be made. Students will be confronted with various experiences, for the creation of free and contemporary forms, in order to know how to deal with different situations. - Basic raw material included. Possible purchase of different material and / or larger quantities. - The objects created will remain students.

MODULE TRE B //
VARIOUS CUTS PART 2
Alternative processes will be tried to decorate the object, for example by making facets by hand. Objects will be made, even with curved cuts, inlaid and decorated using diamond cutters to create different patterns. You will see different examples of carving, on different materials. Mixed cuts will be performed by combining all these techniques. A stone ring will be made starting from a single piece of raw material, and then it will be modified with various details, learned in the various courses, according to a design conceived and designed by the student. - Basic raw material included. * - Possible purchase of different material and / or larger quantities.
* Raw material included in the course "Working hard and semiprecious stones": various marbles, chalcedony, rhodonite, jasper, Tuscan opal, quartz, and others.
