COURSE CONTENT //

The course is aimed at participants with basic notions of metal jewelery.

 

During the course Dario Redolfi, our master, will teach us how to make ideal settings for every type and shape of stone, from simple cabochons to geometric marquises.

We will learn the tricks of the trade to make the most of laboratory tools and choose the ideal way to go in making a bezel.

Objective of the course:

The settings that will be made during the course will allow  to the students to be able to range between the different basic structures required by the cutting of the stones, interpreting and subsequently modifying them through their own style.  

 

Observing the metalworking carried out by a master goldsmith of the caliber of Dario, his skilful dexterity, provides knowledge and ideas on his work, from the execution steps to the design and realization of the settings.

TO EVERY CUT, ITS BEZEL
How to choose the setting based on the cut of the stone (cabochon; brilliant; faceted, emerald, irregular cameo etc ...)

 

KNOW THE BASIC TOOLS
Die, cutters, funnels, pins of various sections; castoniere, pincers; bow and hacksaws; compass.

How to make a bezel with and without the bezel, there are often  different ways to get to the same bezel shape.
 

WHAT TO START
plate, tape / bastina; row; full; empty barrel; half barrel etc ...

COLLECTIVE COURSE //

Minimum 3, maximum 5 participants.

WHEN//

15 hours divided into 5 three-hour lessons, on Wednesday evening from 18.00 to 21.00.

Starting April 27, 2022.

€ 480 (VAT exempt)  

MATERIALS TO BE PAID BY THE PARTICIPANTS //

  • Individual banquet tools such as cutters, bow with blades, files, pliers, clamps etc ...

  • Stones of various shapes: cabochon; brilliant; faceted, emerald, irregular cameo etc ...

  • Flat 925 silver 5mm high x 1.2mm thick at least 10 cm long.

  • 2.5mm thick silver plate

  • Silver wire 2mm in circumference, about 30cm long

  • Extra silver, even waste, for the eventual creation of ingots to be used during the course.
